Emily, the Eastern Kingsnake

Lampropeltis getula

I am occasionally questioned by children when I refer to Emily as a kingsnake, "Shouldn't she be called a Queensnake since she's a girl?"

Kingsnakes get their name from their diet of other snakes, including rattlesnakes. Kingsnakes are immune to rattlesnake venom.

Here at Lick Your Eyeballs, Emily is fed a diet of rodents and chicks.
